Hey everyone, First post here, just wanting to introduce you all to myself and my CB360

First...My names Donald. Call me Don or Donnie. I am 24 years old. In my free time i am an artist, i love to draw, sculpt, pretty much anything. Mostly i am a digital illustrator/designer. but i am just as good on paper, i just prefer to work digitally most of the time. As for my actual money making job, Im a manager at my local gamestop. I live in Bethalto, IL, about 20 minutes from St. Louis, MO. I know next to nothing about motorcycles , and about two seats over from nothing about mechanicle work. I like do take things apart and fix them though, and when my grandfather gave me a 75 cb360 i couldn't wait to start.

I started Googling around about how it could look and quickly fell in love with cafe-racers.
I could of sworn i took pictures of it back before i had started dismantling it, but i can't find them right now, if i find some later ill post it.

this is the only picture i have right now

Its over all condition was not bad for sitting in a garage for 20 years. but then again, it wasn't exposed to the elements. the tank had gas in it the entire time, so its all rusted to hell. the seat was also torn up. Only thing that had rust to even worry about was the frame, but even it is minuscule, its mostly just really dirty.

At my current state i have everything off the frame save the Front fork and wheels. (btw, even the tires aren't dry rotted, they've been holding air for 2 weeks now.) (again ill post pictures later)
I started tearing down the engine also just to check things out. this was very scary because as i said, i know nothing about this stuff. but i have myself a shop manual, and I'm just following the instructions. the reason for this is because my the splines on my kick start spindle are stripped away so i have to replace it.

Anyway, i opened up the crankcase and the engine is pristine, everything looks almost new, accept the piston holder things, they look rusted, but i havnt seen any pictures that show anyone elses' is any different, so I'm assuming that's normal.

But yeah ill add more later when i take some pictures.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and this build. I hope i can get it done decently fast.

Sorry if this seems like rambling, i always get nervous when posting on new forums.

Welcome to the forums! Looking forward to seeing progress with the bike, be sure and start a build thread.

I feel a little strange welcoming you, since I'm a long time lurker, yet this is my first time posting, but I saw you were from Behalto and had to respond as I'm from Edwardsville. I'm in the same shoes as you, little to no previous experience, just a 22 year old college student with a 74 CB550 and a passion for cafe racers.

Good luck with it, have fun, and if you (and I) get our bikes done, we should ride sometime!

Thanks for the welcome guys. And thats a definite huge yes to that offer Rob. Is your bike done or are you building it currently. Either way. Id love to see some pictures.

Welcome and you've got a good start. Having a shop manual makes a lot of intimidating jobs ridiculously simple if you just follow along... until a seized bolt gets in your way. Keep us updated with a build thread!

Welcome dude. This place has helped me figure out way more than just a shop manual could. Not only in direct responses to questions, but tons from looking through the old threads. Amazing the amount of skill and experience on here.

+1 on the impact gun (or even a handheld impact driver) and the manual . Oh and some PB Blaster or other penetration oil.

Yeah. Thanks for the tip guys but I'm actually all set on tools. My family owns a huge shop and I have just about any tool I could need..aside from the ones specifically made for small random things...but hey..I may have them too...One thing I am getting though is a siphon sand blaster for our air compressor. 20 bucks at the local tractor supply ..screw paying a shop 100 bucks to blast my frame and engine.

And ill probably start my build thread when I can get more pictures...haven't been able to make it to the shop in a couple days because of work.
