New Gal! Sport Bike Rider and Building Cafe KZ750G Twin

A week ago I didn't know what "do the ton" meant. Or cafe racer. :) But I saw a bike I loved and decided I had to have something like it, so I looked for an older bike that I could design into a cafe racer style bike and my boyfriend is going to help make it happen! (Well, in reality, he's doing all of the work, although I'll be around for input.) :)

So this is the bike after we brought it home earlier this week, a bit rough around the edges. Electric start wouldn't work, kick start barely worked, front brake not working, rear brake barely working, leaking oil and backfiring but for the age, not too bad, really just needing a little TLC before conversion.

Still designing but have some of the details planned out, the bike is already in pieces in the garage and some stuff on order. :)

Welcome to DTT. Not a bad bike to start with. Looking forward to what you guys come up with.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes I think we got lucky that it seems in good shape, needs a little TLC and of course it will be modified but in general it's not too bad. :)

Well, as long as the base is good the project should be fun. Theres a TON of info, and a bunch of smart folks here on DTT so dont hesitate to use the search function or ask questions if you two have any. I know there are a few Kawasaki nits here too who will be able to really get in depth on any issues if needed. Make sure to start a build thread with plenty of pics as well. Youre much more likely to get assistance that way.

Thanks! Just started our project thread with photos and some of the stuff we've found so far. And you're right, there is so much great information here!! :) I am really enjoying going through the threads seeing the projects and bike photos. Really cool!!
