new garage, new build (XS650)

GRHebard

Been Around the Block
so, im taking a break from the CB350 build for a little while. and i hardtailed this XS650 frame. i decided on an XS650 because this is my first hardtail, so i didnt want to mess up a nice bike like a triumph
theres no stretch on it, and its dropped down a little bit, the tires are pretty tall and i wanted like 5" of ground clearance.
im considering building an aluminum front fairing, and using clubmans or clip-ons, but then again, im also considering just making a more traditional/minimalist bobber with 4 or 5" tall Z-style bars and a regular headlight, and keep things humble

im trying to buy as few parts as possible, and im hoping to build as many of the parts as i can from raw material.
ill try to update this thread often.
im very open to any and all suggestions and ideas

Yeah sky, definitely stop by. it's nice to be in a small garage an awesome part of downtown near my house.

Yeah, the tires are really tall. Also, a side note, to anyone who's curious, I'm not all that interested in performance with the XS (if you couldn't already tell by the tire choice). I'm just building a good looking and fun bobber to ride around town. I'm going to be concentrating on performance on the CB.

Well, I built a welding table a few days ago. So now that my shop is well setup, I'll be building all the little parts like the battery box and electrical box

well, so much for updating this thread often. ive hardly made any progress with it

heres how it sits right now:

From you first post
"i decided on an XS650 because this is my first hardtail, so i didnt want to mess up a nice bike like a triumph"

[/quote] god forbid mess up a overpriced bike that a cb750 of all things dethrowned. That xs is a nice bike dont sell it short. An added plus over a triumph is lucas did not help build an xs so the smoke will only come out of the tail pipe not the fuse box lol. Nice bike man i would own it in a heart beat

the tires are kickass, what are they firestone? i have a cl 350 hard tail and need new tires atleast the back one love the look for sure

Ok so I am working a classic board track style bobber XS project and love those tires, what are they?

Firestone Classics. Always a good choice.

I can't tell, but is that a 16" rear and 18" front or 16's on both ends?

I've gotta say, the circular wiring box is a bit common these days, especially on something a little less common like a zero stretch hard tail.

I always thought if I went to a hard tail it'd be zero-stretch.
