New Guy And All That Stuff

Hello fellow gear-heads!

I'm Bill, and I'm an idiot... Oh wait, that's a different forum.

Actually, considering the stuff I get into, idiot is probably a good description!'

So, as I said above, I'm Bill. I live with my wonderful wife, Kristy, in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. I'm working on becoming a writer, dutifully working on my first novel (it has a Norton Commando in it!) whenever I'm not playing around in the garage.

In my garage you'll find a '72 442 convertible (Pro-touring style), the remains of a '69 Triumph Bonneville (on its 3rd or 4th iteration), and a Suzuki VX800. Sitting outside of the garage is an '89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and a '93 BMW M5.

Since it is obvious I needed another vehicle, I purchased a '76 KZ750B last fall. I still have a bit to go, but you can see where I am in the process...

That's a GPZ1100 tank, a Zephyr 750 front end, and KZ1000 18" wheels. Soon to come are rearsets and Jota bars, plus a 2 into 1 exhaust.

Welcome Bill.
Nice looking garage, and interesting mix of machinery. You should fit right in here. : )

Nice project with a good combination of parts. I would have used Superbike bars and gone for the ELR type look (in twin format)

...looks oddly like a 1000 Police 18" wheel .

Welcome to the group insanity . I tend to steal the disc brake assy off the rear of those when unsuspecting owners arn't looking . I have a very few notes on some previous idiocy with that engine . I would junk the stock cam chain tensioner and find a manual . They seem to be a little light on top end oil and I've seen several approaches to delivering a little extra up top . Otherwise they are brutal in execution and fairly under stressed in general . I know of one soul that has been doing this for a long time . If you start digging any deeper than parts replacement I'll have to introduce you two .

It's a KZ1000 18" front wheel so... ;D

For right now, the engine will remain pretty much as she left Japan. With the purchase of a second engine though, you never cal tell!

Thanks for the info!

Welcome to the site, Bill. We love all kinds of machinery here, so post up some pics of your other projects.
