New guy, here is my collection

DesmoDog

Been Around the Block
First, a '91 907ie I bought brand new and still own. It was on display in the Ducati tent at the '05 VMD at Mid Ohio. (the other two bikes aren't mine)

Next Duc (there were other Japanese bikes that came and went) was a '95 900ss which I then sold to buy this in 2000.

That bike made it perfectly clear I had zero talent as a rider, so I gravitated towards the vintage side of things. Not my first project bike but my first project Ducati. Before:

After:

The vintage "scene" fit me better than the Superbike crowd which led to riding in the Motogiro d'Italia in 2005. That convinced me I had to get a single cylinder Ducati. My search led me to this package deal. A 1996 250 Monza and a 1966 160 Monza Jr.
the 250:

The 160:

Plan was to build the 250 first, but the 160 snuck in there and took center stage. It's still not done but it now looks like this:

Meanwhile, the 250 was morphing through a bunch of ideas... I finally pulled the trigger on a tank and tail for it though so now it's game on. I also managed to source an Oldani replica front hub and 350 engine for it too. Here's how it looks now (i've got a lot of work to do, many of the parts shown aren't going to be used)

Oh, and that '95 900ss I sold to buy the 996? I missed it, so last summer I bought a '97 900ss to replace it.

And that's my collection. Probably nothing you haven't seen before if you've been on any Ducati forum... these pics have been around. but... I've been lurking here for a bit now so I thought I'd jump in. I'm not sure I'd consider any of these to be true cafe racers, so I probably won't post much. Not to mention the builds are all covered on various other forums aroudn the 'net.

And finally... yes, I did name my dog Desmo. Hence the user name - I needed a username one night, he walked by... the rest is history.

Great collection,I've always wanted a 900SS,but not as an only bike. ;D

YMMV but I've found the 900ss to be a pretty decent all around bike. I used to commute on my '95, about 65 miles each way with a mix of highway and backroads riding. They're pretty cheap right now too... though you typically have to spend a few bucks to bring a used one into shape.

Well would ya look at that. Slow day with not much going on so I was poking around the site and saw this post... things have changed.

These have all been sold:
907ie
996
750GT
160 Monza
900ss

But a few others have shown up in their place

1991 851. It saw track day duty when my dedicated bike wasn't ready

2015 Monster 1200S This one saw track day duty too, when the dedicated bike wasn't running right.

2003 Aprilia RSV-R This is the dedicated track bike now. It's had a few issues but overall is a great track bike. I do feel like a traitor riding it though, it's the first non-Ducati I've bought in about 25 years.

It looked like this when I bought it:

Other than that, the 250/350 single is still stuffed in a corner awaiting attention. And the new V2 is tugging at my sleeve pretty hard, but I'd have to get rid of a couple things to make room for it. And by that I mean come up with the money...

There was a Hypermotard in there too, but it was only around for a few years until it was sold to help fund the Monster.
