New Guy Signing in From Lima Peru

Hey guys,
Hows everyone doing? I've been lurking and building quietly from way down South America. Im a native New Yorker living in Lima Peru at the moment. I have a few bikes back at home and just couldn't go on living here without one. I came across a 1973 CB 350 Four in a a town called Pucallpa. Its a town in the Peruvian Amazon jungle located in Northern Peru. Turns out this guy buys the bike in California back in 1973 and rode it from there all the way down to Peru. Took him a year. Bike has been sitting there until recently. So it turns out this is the only CB 350 F in the country, and now I have restored and converted it into a cafe racer, making it the only cafe racer down here as well. People see it and dont know what it is or what to make of it. Hopefully, I'll have part in bringing the cafe racer culture to this country. So about the bike, it was a disaster. I tore it down to zero and started from the ground up. Restored or replaced practically EVERYTHING on this bike. Full engine work, carb work, tank needed restoration, front end restoration, etc, etc. The list is really long. Still have a few more things I'd like to do to the bike, but it turns out now after 3.5 years here, I'll be moving back to NYC. Dont know whether to sell this one here or ship it back home. I'm posting some pics. Let me know what you think. Glad to finally be a part of this site. I think you guys do some amazing work.

Welcome to DTT! Great bike and an AWESOME story. Gotta say, it'd be real tough for me to get rid of a bike like with that kind of history.

Hi Guys. Just an update. I decided to bring the bike home with me. That said, I put her in a container and she arrived a couple of weeks ago here in NYC. New York has a new cafe racer roaming through its streets! Any New Yorkers out there getting ready to ride? Spring is almost in the air!

Cool man! Glad you kept it.

There are a bunch of NY folks around. Check out the area specific pages...

Question... The other day I was riding, and while the bike was going strong at about 40mph, it just died on me. No electricity at all. I checked the fuse, and that was ok. There is no power at all. No lights, horn, starter. Any ideas as to what I should check? Had to push it home....

Test the battery amd charging system to make sure they're in good order. You likely lost a ground connection somewhere. Time to bust out the multi meter and start chasing spark.

I wish I lived in Lima Peru so I could tell everyone I lived in Lima Peru. Sounds great just rolling off the tongue.

Oh trust me, you dont wanna live in Lima Peru!!! Hahaha.

Haha. By the way, have you heard of a book called Motorcycle Therapy by Jeremy Kroeker? He rode down to Peru all the way from Canada on a KLR650. Its a really great little book. I think you would enjoy it :

My bike was purchased in California and ridden down to Peru as well back in 1973!
