Well the time has come to repaint Tracey's 1977 GS400... and if I'm painting I might as well put on a different tank.
I picked up a somewhat dented but rust free GS450 tank with the knee cutback... much better looking than the fat teardrop the earlier GS400 came with. A little bondo and paint and it will be better than new. I removed the Suzuki badges and will have that filled and smoothed as well.
Going to paint the chrome fender as well since the curb it hit made a good dent... too much to pound out and re-smooth. So pound, bondo and paint it is.
The seat is going to stay stick size for now. I think I need to find a donor pan to mess with before I commit to chopping the sub-frame and fender.
Lower drag bars will drop her position a bit with out going full fledge clip-on or clubman... but much sleeker than the tall stockers.
Warm enough now to work in the garage and the roads will be covered in gravel for a few weeks anyway.
Oh.... the colours? Black frame as is with rattle can touchups... if I was going to powder I'd grind all the crap Japanese welds away and have them redone and smoothed... too much bother.... white accents... and the primary?.... PINK ... at least now I won't crash it again because I won't ride it ;D
Pics will come later... nothing major to show anyway in the disassembly.
