New member and Project - Ninja 250 Cafe Racer

Re: New member and Project - Ninja 250 Cafe Racer

I used to be really big into turbo eclipses. Mine was fwd and I could never get traction, so I decided to make it rwd. I turned the motor 90 degrees and mated a chevy transmission with a ford 9" rear end. Full roll cage with linked rear. Then I decided I wanted to run a ls1. All this was going on while I was in school, so I decide to finish it when I got out and started making more money. We all know how that goes and there it sits. It is a sad reminder everytime I go to the shop. Kinda lost interest but I hope to do something with it in the future.

Sounds familiar. Were you on dsmtuners.com? I also had a few DSM's. Last one was a 2Ga TSi AWD 5spd w/2Gb Eclipse Front Conversion, bolt ons, blah blah

Yeah I used to lurk around there. I was never really an active member. Dsms are amazing cars with tons of potiental if you can keep them running! I reverted back to the dark side awhile back when I bought an si.

The whole thing is a great idea...and looking bad ass. are you planning on losing the funky plastic scooping thing on the front of the motor. Them bikes always look like theyre ready to plow the field with that thing. just me

I have not decide what to do about the belly pan yet. I don't really like the lines of the bike when I take it off, but I agree something will have to be done with it. I might make a smaller sleeker looking one kinda like the Reposal bike I've seen on this site.

Re: New member and Project - Ninja 250 Cafe Racer *new pics

Here are some updated pictures of my bike. I finished the side covers, mounted the tail light, and wired in a trail tech tach/speedo. I still need to paint it and decide on what to do with the front fender and belly pan, but its about 90% done. Opinions?

Slick!

In my opinion the 2 things that stand out to my eye are the front fender and the chin fairing.

And any color other than black might make the point on the lower edge of the tank look odd.

Really nicely done. It already has a ton more character than stock!

Oh, and smaller exhaust cans might help balance it out a touch.

I'm just nit picking, though. Really nicely done!

I like it a lot! I say just trim the fender and fairing WAY back into a slimmer more vintage feel. I think a pair of shorty reverse cone mufflers would help set it off too.

Yeah, I agree. You guys hit the nail on the head. I am going to try and cut down the factory lower fairing. If it does not come out ok I will just make a new one from scratch. It looks really odd without it, so I feel like something needs to be there. I am not convinced I can modify the front fender and it look ok. I'm thinking about getting a factory metal one off an older bike. I definitely would like to do some reverse cone mufflers, but I will probably rock it with the factory ones till I can squeeze some more money out of the wife. I really appreciate everyones opinions. Thanks
