New member in GA/SC

My bike is not transportation, it is a respite
I've posted a couple times already, but I thought I would introduce myself. I just bought my 72 CL450 a couple weeks ago so I haven't done much to it yet. I live near Atlanta, GA, but I work in Greenville, SC, about 2.5 hours away. The bike is currently in Greenville so I can work on it at night during the week. When I bought it, it wasn't running so I cleaned the tank out, got a new fuel valve, put in new plugs and cleaned one of the carbs. It now runs but won't maintain a constant idle and misses occasionally. Riding it home from work last night, the chain guard fell off, got jammed in the front sprocket cover and the chain ate through it. It rubbed against the tire and cut a deep groove in it. Luckily, I had already ordered a new rear tire as the one it came with was dry rotted. Besides, I was probably going to take the chain guard off anyway. :)

I don't plan on "restoring" it or doing any major disassembly. She'll get some clubman bars, a new seat and probably some rear-sets. I'd also like to lower it as she rides a bit high for me. I like the paint job so I'll try to save it. I don't need a show bike. I just want something fun to ride around.

Here is my only blurry camera phone picture from the day I bought it. Her name is "Nixon" (72 was a big year for him ;) )

Cool to see another member from the south. Where around Atlanta do you live? I live in Athens so we might have to get together for a ride sometime.

I live in Roswell, about 10 miles N of ATL. But like I said, I work in Greenville, SC and that is where I currently have the bike. I guess Athens is in the middle. I'll be taking the back wheel and chain off tonight to try and extract the chain guard. ;)
