Been Around the Block
It's been what, a week since i stopped really fiddling with the Tortoise, well I was bored so I finally made arrangements, rented a truck and went up to the "farm" and picked up the new bike. It's been sitting in the garage up there since the mid 80's.
I haven't much in mind for this one, So far I know that the motor needs the headgasket replaced, and the brakes need to be rebuilt. I already have the engine seals, will be ordering cables this week. Mods wise I was thinking of just getting a set of clubmans, and either making a cowel for the rear of the factory seat, or get another seatpan and build a more sporty seat, polish the cases and chrome back up, and I have a set of CL pipes I'm thinking of tossing on
Ideally i'd like to get a full vintage fairing and matching tank/seat for this one, but i'm being overruled on that for the moment...i'm sure that I can win that fight though.
I cannot begin to say how clean this bike is. The carbs and tank were perfect, all the bolts have no corrosion, just a slight dusting that dulls the surface. Every bolt just comes off so nicely. 30min with the bike last night and I had most of bike disassembled for the motor removal.
