New tank paint on XS650... hard decision!

XS650 caferacer / SV650 Endurance project
Here's my current tank paint. It's a silver flake that I actually like but it's chipped and bubbled so now it's time to take a hard decision... what color!?

current:

It's difficult to tell. Is the current finish a silver flake? If so, candy is the answer. It doesn't matter what color as long as it's candy. ;D

yep, the current is flake but it doesnt look too good up close (gas has made it bubble a lot around the cap). So it will be all new paint.. but I am leaning towards a pearl kind of paint :)

Have you thought about that motif in white/black?

I like the green too, but I'm almost wanting to see the frame and headlight bucket in that colour as well.

try and match the gold colour on the brake caliper.

100% agree :)

but...the calipers are black.... ??? ;)

dunno if your into the "beat up survivor" look but bubbly sparkle paint that has been pinstriped subtly then torched and then clear coated over looks pretttyyy sweet

(not sparkle paint but you get the idea)

what about british racing green with white and gold tank badges and gold (or white) pinstripe along the tanks lines?

I agree too, but i think he meant the gold on the disc hub. Do that one.... or not.... :D

hmm, i'm actually with you all on the gold like the gold hub... I'm just not a big fan of the "accents of the same color everywhere" thing. Right now the front brake disc center is gold and so is the brembo master and I think that's about enough gold 8)

I also love the beat-up-survivor look but again, this is a quite polished 1975 cafe racer and not 1954 JAP powered Brit track iron ;-)

i'm leaning towards the blue - as a tribute to the bonneville where the XS styling was "borrowed" from originally....

@Vita: that's a great idea! Gotta head out and shop for some paint now... will post pics of the outcome!

See if you can get the striping done in gold leaf, not cheap but damn it would pop.

I actually got new inspiration for this project from the BMW Rennsport... I started to like the simple racing look.

So I took the 3M tape i bought and masked off a simple line. I still need to polish it but soon I'll have pictures of it on the bike :)
