New to DTT

Goodell ds7

One life. Live it.
New to DTT as a member but have followed the site and some threads but figured its time for input and feedback. This past summer I picked up a little project bike. Unfortunately it was non running and ceased up. It is a 1972 Yamaha DS7 250cc two stroke with 11k miles on it. With a little penetrating oil and some elbow grease I freed up the engine and have started the cafe project that I've always wanted. I've replaced the pistons and rings, condensers, plugs, wires, bars and numerous cables. I did get the bike to fire up and run for a minute just before riding season was over. With winter setting in I pulled the motor and cleaned it all up in my basement. As of right now the motor is all back in I just need to find the time to get everything all hooked back up and all the fluids refilled. I have a battery eliminator on the way and plan on replacing everything else as I go when it's up and running. I do want to know what everyone is doing with the old auto lube systems. Should I run that or get rid of it no only to save the weight but also so I know the premix is doing all the lubricating that I need. At some point I would like to retrofit the wheels/brakes, fork and all that stuff off my blown up gixxer but my goal right now is to just get the bike up and riding as is. Any feedback is good feedback so let me know what you think and I'm always looking for a shop to hang out at in the Rochester NY area.

Welcome. keep the Autolube pump but flush the old stale oil out. If you didn't replace all the engine oil seals, strip it again and replace them - especially the two crank seals. they are cheap insurance.
