Just to give you a taste of my grief, this is the last correspondence with Serice Ontario...
Hello Andrew, as per our telephone conversation this is the information that Jennifer from Hotline told me.
First step:
Go to the police station and ask them what you need to file a report on this transfer that you were not aware of.
Ask them what documents you would need to provide to them, such as the ownership, bill of sale etc. and if any of the documents need to be certified before you give it to the police.
Second step:
Write a letter explaining the entire situation. That you were not aware of any transfer, how you’ve had the motorcycle for 7 years and that it’s never been transferred by you etc. Write as much information that you have on this letter so that they have all the facts.
In the letter include the VIN number of the Motorcycle
Your name
Address
Best contact number
Your credit card number with the expiry and the 3 digits on the back. This is to charge you for each document that you need to show the police. Each document is $6.00 that is why it is best to go to the police first to find out exactly what you need.
Also include that you want this processed right away so that you don’t have to wait 4-6 weeks for this information to get mailed to you.
And if the documents need to be certified, make sure this is included in the letter as well.
Step 3:
Fax or Mail the letter to Data Access Unit MTO
Fax Number: 416 235 4414
Mailing address:
Data Access Unit MTO
Building A – 2680 Keele Street
Downsview Ontario
M3M 3E6
I was speaking to both Jennifer and Chris, and they both advised me to tell you to go to the police to file a report.
Hopefully this works out for you.
Have a good evening.
Vanessa
