Hello my name is Travis and I own Iron Spade Cycles in TX. I currently build custom Cafe' and street tracker bikes from older Jap and British makes. On occasion I've been know to build a HD, but few and very far between. Just not my thing. Over the years of building bikes for clients, I've accumulated many different bikes into my own collection. I'm partial to older CB's and anything two stroke and road worthy. I've also got quite a few classic and soon to be vintage MX bikes as well.
My current projects for clients include a Yamaha R5 Cafe, a Norton 750 Cafe, a 1964 Triumph street/strip drag bike and a 1977 Yamaha XS400 Cafe I'm building for a 56 year old grandmother. She's so cool! I currently build all my own frames and bodywork from 4130 and 3003 alloys. I'm also working on many of my own projects along the way. I have 3 Yamaha RD350's, an RD125 twin and an RD400. A pair of 73 Honda CB350-4's and a 76 CB750 all of which are being built as Cafe's. I'm working on a line of custom cafe related parts and before the end of the year I will be purchasing a small CNC mill to start manufacturing my own parts on a grander scale.
Here is a picture of one of my RD350's that I will soon be grafting on a single shock swingarm from a FZR600. This picture was taken so that I could mirror image the picture over the CADD drawing for my suspected seat height. I'm 6'2" and most on of these old bikes I look like a Monkey hugging a football so I had to raise the seat up a bit. There will be a Dunstall style half fairing I'm currently banging out and maybe a larger capacity toaster tank, I haven't decided just yet. The seat desperately needs some attention as the kayak foam would be fine if I was just racing it but after 100 miles my ass is totally numb. I'm thinking of a Gel type seat pad with a suede leather cover.
I'm hoping to have my website up and running soon so I'll be sure to keep everyone in the loop. Later Travis
