Hey everyone, I registered to look around for info. I have an '82 CM450, that I have had for years, and put thousands of miles on, including some very long trips. As I haven't not ridden it for a few years, while I let many friends use it as a learning bike, I decided it is time to give it a new lease on life, and make something cool out of it. I have found a lot of good info here, and am looking forward to starting to build something fun out of this old work horse.

Thanks for all the great posts and info on this site!

Welcome to the site John. What are your plans for the bike? You going to build a cafe racer, bobber, or just restore it to it's original glory?

I'm thinking a mix. I love the solo seat look, but I want a more aggressive look and seating position, but do a lot of the retro cafe touches. I'm thinking of doing clip-on's and a rear-set then build up the rear frame for a solo seat so the rear wheel is hanging out like a bobber. Those are some initial thoughts. What I want to avoid doing is messing with the suspension geometry, It rides well, I don't want to mess that up. I'll have to see what comes about when I tear it apart and start cutting.
