No Gel coat

Considering purchasing some Duratec for the finish primer. I personally buy the white (White: 714-002) -- the color makes imperfections most noticeable in my experience.

Search around for better prices (and let me know since I need some more ;D)

Here is one of the first links I found and the price seems on par with what I have paid in the past -- http://www.expresscomposites.com/duratec1.html

D'oh, that makes me drool. If only I could talk the wife into me buying that much carbon (since this is only a part-time hobby at best).

Is it ok to use the cheaper discount carbon fiber made in China? Its more in my price range, but Im still looking. This may be a project that I have to buy a few thing at a time. I really don't know how much cloth I will need. I would like to make my seat and battery box out of carbon fiber. Then one cosmetic piece to go on the tank. Just for fun I like to make some bar grips ???

US Composites has nice Carbon.
Fibreglast as well.

Can't tell a difference between the two.

For good material, you'll spend around $35-$40 per linear yard.

I have (only) heard that the Chinese carbon is utter crap.

I was going to buy the cheaper carbon fiber to practice makeing the seat and if it turn out halfway decent I might keep it or go ahead and get the Good stuff.
Us Composites has discount section which is all China made material for a little cheaper price.

I was looking at us composites carbon/kevlar hybrid and its cheaper than some other places. I like the looks, but rather see more black than red.
These are some regular CF I picked out.

$41.50/Yard x 50"
Weight: 5.7osy
Weave: 2 x 2 Twill
Tow Size: 3K
Thickness: .010"

$49.50/Yard x 50"
Weight: 8.3osy
Weave: 4 x 4 Twill
Tow Size: 3K
Thickness: .015"

Ok say I vacuum bag my part, I guess this question applies to not bagging it too. So if Im bagging it, is there a certain direction the female mold should be shaped/formed from the orignal part so that the CF will laid right. If thats sound dumb or confusing check this vid out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jSwx_EkJgM

See the part was polished or clean looking on the side that was facing down. I thought of something I guess really doesn't matter with my part because Im casting the female mold from the top side anyways.
