Noob Question - Recently Purchased Cafe Project

Recently snagged this CB360T up in Seattle. Purchased in pieces down to the frame and I have been putting her back together in the apartment until of course I have to drop the motor in (just working on minor details and drooling over it). It had a lot of things already done to it that I was wanting to do as well. e.g. powder coated wheels, frame, etc.

I've been pondering the previous owners intention for the rear frame pinch bolts that were welded on both ends of the frame. Was he going to bolt on a hoop? Has anyone else done this? I have tried to research but have not really had any luck.

This will be my first post on dotheton, as this is my first rodeo.

Check it out, pinch style bolts I'm talking about.

Yum. Got wheels mounted and had to put them on.

Those pinch are kinda weird, but if you need a rear hoop, seriously hit the link for dimecity and they will hook you up. Cool that you got those details which are a bitch to do already finished for you.
Welcome to the group.

That's an interesting idea with the pinch bolts. You could bolt in a plain loop, or if you wanted to travel you could bolt up a carry rack. He's already welded up a plate over the seat area, so rigidity wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah - like you'd want to tour on a cafe.....

Awesome, thanks for the quick responses. I am thinking about just trying to get a hoop, might try to find a place that can bend metal around Portland. I've visited DimeCity and they definitely have a lot of good bolt on accessories.

I have time to brainstorm for seat ideas, for now. I really just want to figure out why he went with the pinch style bolts, the idea must have sparked from somewhere. If he was already taking the time to weld the plate and pinch bolts, you would think he could have just lined it up with a nice hoop....

that squeeze bolt idea is pimp, i like it better than welding... just think that if you got a hoop to fit the tube diameter that you could have an adjustable back of the bike, say if you wanted a two passenger or an extra long cowl on the back, im personally not going with a rear hoop, but you could just use those 2 bolts for like a license plate mount.

The pinch bolts on the rear seem to be stock from just a few pictures on shmoogle...also the hoop seems to be removable because they are on fleabay...still a nice idea but all signs seem to point to a factory idea.

Maybe that was were he was planning on bolting the back of the seat? that would be a good idea. ;)

After looking at some pictures on google after posting this I did realize I noticed more and more of the frames with pinch bolts. I'm assuming they come stock? Just wanted to confirm. Thanks
