hey guys
I bought my second bike this spring, a 1984 suzuki gs750ef with almost 100,000 kms.
my last bike was an xs1100 special... just TOO heavy to be worth modifying

Started doing an oil change shortly after i bought it and got a little carried away with dismantling....

the day i bought it

its also set up for cbr600rr rear passenger pegs

and some new toys that are going on to the bike as well....

crg levers and 2007 gsxr1000 controls., I either need to figure out how to make my clutch activate via hydrolics or make the lever able to pull the cable
Acewell gauge pack. stainless brake lines. individual pod filters, tiny battery, complete gasket kit and new piston rings

at the moment the motor is completely dismantled. Im hopefully going to get it back together sometime today.
I have ordered a new seat for the tail, so once its here i can finish mounting that and get the frame finish welded and coated.

the bike came with a yosh pipe, so i think im going to keep it and modify it slightly.
still need to get a headlight, signals, bar end mirrors and some new grips
i still have yet to decide on final colors.

anyway im curious to know what you guys think of the project.

First update.

spent the day cleaning up the wheels for paint and mounting the passenger pegs.

i love finding out that what i initially think is steel in poor condition, turns out to be polished aluminium.

glass blasting wheels tomorrow, and painting.
I need to find a 150/70 rear tire. Only one i have seen so far is the dunlop gt501 that will fit onto the 3.5 rear wheel.

Lookin' schmick mate! You've definitely got a handle on this one, and the fighter direction you've got for it looks like its going to be absolutely killer once its done.

My Aprilia runs a 150/60 on the rear that may suit, they seem to be available fairly easily to. Bridgestone BT92 I think it is, basically a sporting tourer...or a tourish sportster. Lots of grip and plenty of wear resistance, anyway.

Cheers - boingk

Ahhh memories.....I had one of those as my first big road bike. Same colour too ;)

I'd keep the cable clutch - there's no bolt on cover from any other Suzuki that will be an easy hydro clutch swap.

Also, I think the 1100EF swinger slots in there pretty easily - which will accomodate a wider rim than the 750.

Nice work so far ;D

new updates, the frames done. and the passenger seat is fabricated. Works with the origional quick release
Frame and wheels painted.

thanks guys

it went though several stages to get to where it is.

i rebuilt the tail 3 times either adding things like the built in battery box or trying to add more room in the tail.

I did it so that you shouldnt be able to see any of the electroics with the tail bodywork on

I still need a headlight if anyone has a decent condition round style light kickin around that they dont need.

Really nice build man! That was some oil change! It has come a long way. Can't wait for more updates.

few more updates
first the progress....

painted the tripple clamps.

and FINALLY, its an assembled rolling bike... well somewhat assembled anyway.
I have to say, it looks WAY better than what i was aiming for.
and even though i have a 120 tire on a 3.5 front wheel and a 140 on a 2.5 rear wheel it still looks good.

The Dictionary said:
Envy [en-vee] (n): a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.

Uh....yep, that'd pretty sum up my emotions at this point. Damn thats a kickin' build, very nice lines and great stance.

Keep it up! - boingk

Looks great, where'd you get the tires mounted, dave or the shop? I'll need to put mine on next week

Very nice build! Impressive work on the sub frame and tail! 8)

Can't wait to see more! ;D ;D

thanks guys.
I have to build the motor before i can go any further.
I also have to decide what color to paint the tank and seat.
im thining eiher white or black or a very deep red/maroon color or pastel blue (m3).
cant choose, i would love to hear all of your opinions.

i mounted the tires at the shop matt.
the 120 on teh 3.5pretty much just fell on.
the 140 on teh 2.5 rear took an hour.
they still need to be balanced.

UPDATE!

padded and covered seats, somewhat successfully
and painted the tank and tail.
bought headlight and mirrors.
havnt had a chance to mount them yet

I had a bunch of paint kickin around from other projects.
I only had enough of the blue, but wanted to try something different.
so i just dumped all 3 colors together.
I love how it turned out.

and the finished pics.
this is only base, i have yet to spray the clear.
the pictures do this paint no justice. It looks amazing in person.
I cant wait until i get several coats of clear on there.
theres TONS of tiny silver flake in there that you cant see in the pics as well
the vinyl on the seat bubbled a bit as well. I tried to cover it with no seams.
I think ill try it again this winter. I know where i went wrong last time, so i should be able to fix it next time.
