This is my CM400T. I know its not a cafe style, but what do you think?
I've also got a '73 cb175, 72 cb350, and a '72 Yamaha DS7. All bought for less than a normal weeks wages. ;D One will def be getting treatment inspired from this forum.
Agreed, not only is that bare metal but diamond plate at worse. Do you get little diamond patterns on your azz after riding? HaHa. Same for the signal lights, atleast maybe paint the housings black. But GREAT looking bike none the less! Seriously nice work.
IS this the bike from Massdriven? Nice but I would want to pad the seat. I thought about a build like this for my CM400 too. I still want to build a bobber like this. have to find a deal like you got. Welcome, this site rocks for info and great people.
yeah nice. i like its style. it should not be to much of a problem to cover the seat, black engine etc. think i would make something around the clock area for the idiot lights and speedo out of alloy.
This was the product of winter and boredom. Kind of a project always on the works. ALOT of work getting that tank on the frame, I mean ALOT!!! I'll post more pics later. I need some advice on wiring and such. And the seat isn't too bad to ride on. I know it looks rough. I have another seat for it, but i just like the way this one looks

I've done a few things since some of these pics, painted engine covers, new pegs, and such. In one of the pics you can barely see the wiring mess i have to deal with yet. I'm thinking gut everything but the essentials and run the rest through the frame?
I like the bobber look, I am considering the same motorcycle for my wife who wants another ride. How did you mount the sporty tank? Makes the bike look ole school...
I know what you mean about framework to get the tank on. Looks alot like the bike im building now.
I would clean up some of the cables and loose the big chrome pipe. The pipe takes away the attention from the bike. Check out my build up at
I def like! I'm a huge fan of BLACK, so I say add MORE! Blacking out parts of the engine would look great! By the way... where did you get your tail light? Was it part of your license bracket? AND... did the light housing come black or did you paint it?
I bought the taillight from Justified Defiance. It was stainless steel then i powdercoated black. ( I have my own powder coater and oven) The bracket was made by a sister sign shop i work for out of aluminum. I need to clean alot fo things up but not sure how to shorten cables ??? Any help would be appreciated.
Overall, I like it. Personally, I'd cap off the frame where you chopped it and shave down the edge where the pressed sheet metal meets. I think that would really contribute to the look--as well as make the chassis stronger.
Also, the stock CM tank is one of the cooler ones out there. Why not go back to that?
