Not Working- Glum...........................

Well, that really is a kick in the you-know-what.

I trust there will be something better for you down the road.

Apply for Pogie lol (unemployment). Not sure what it's called where you're from, but it's the east-coast dream where I live. I've been laid off but never had the luxuries of getting paid not to work.

What?! Damn PJ, that's terrible. Did they say you physically can't do the job?

Worse than saying I can't physically do it, 'work not up to required standard' :( (scratched rear rim on an R1, it was already damaged but I made it worse)
I know I'm out of practice but I never even had a chance to work on a Suzuki, did a Kawasaki, BMW, and R1, the rest of the time was un-crating and building new bikes (plus a safety inspection/PDI on a used 250 Ninja)

With Rick Scott as governor of Florida, unemployment payments are non-existent, (changed all the rules to make sure even less people qualify) ::)
I haven't had anything from unemployment since I was signed off 'fit for work, no restrictions' in March

God damn! That sucks, PJ. I don't get why they wouldn't just take the scratched rim out of your paycheck or something. Firing you seems a little drastic.

Really hate to hear this PJ. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully something better surfaces soon.

Kind of sounds like the got you in to assemble all the crate bikes, then used an excuse to let you go once they didn't need the new dealership stock assembled. Hired more guys to get shit going then thin the herd. Shitty

As I said, it was already damaged, service manager didn't see it though when he booked bike in ( he didn't see both wheels were buckled on the BMW where it had been through a pothole either)
We all know it was just an excuse because my back and arm are still messed up, they don't want the liability of me getting hurt and making my back worse than it already is

If it makes you feel any better....I havn't had a job in what seems like years....just odd jobs here and there to get me by..... starting to feel like there is no other option but to have your own small business .....

Wow. I'm feeling the pain guys. :p

I was in a similar situation... let go (fired?!) from a job and pushing 50 yrs old, took a low paying job to have something to do, couldn't land an interview, let alone a job offer. Spent 2 years searching and "pulled every string" I could think of.

Because I was pretty much out of options, we started our own business. I had some help from several people in order to get started, but we've been up and running for 7 years now. It's still a struggle to keep it going, but it's my struggle and I'm grateful for it!

Your own business might be an option. :)

You should start up your own dealership. With blackjack and hookers. Y'know what? Forget the dealership. Blackjack and hookers all the way.

PJ,

That sucks big ones, sorry to hear it. Sounds like the back is really a barrier which is a true shame when you're so prepared to work :(

Have you thought about trying to set something up at home? Your engineering skills are right up there, you have the equipment and the hours would be more forgiving around your down time.

Sure there are a few around here that could help you get up and running (not sure how I could help but more than prepared to in any way).

Thanks everyone.
One 'bright' spot, I did strip the (faulty-shattered reverse gear dogs) transmission in a brand new Polaris side by side
I guess they forgot they don't have anyone to put it together ;D

Damn PJ, that is just really shitty. Bastards have no idea who they lost (in my book the most knowledgable honda and possibly yamaha man this side of the pond).

I really wish you the best of luck, and I mean that with ever last bit of sincerity that I have. I know I not only speak for myself when I say that you have helped me countless times and I wish I had a way of giving you what you deserve for all of your time and commitment to the bikes that make life worth living.

I really think all of the masters from this site should get together and open up the best classic bike joint the world has ever seen.... Don't worry, I'll happily sweep up the floors and stay out of everyones way ;)
