Obligatory Intro: CB125s

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
What's up everyone,
I'd like to introduce myself as a new member of a 12/1974 CB125s that I picked up last week with 900 original miles on the clock. She's my first bike, and I'm hoping to fix her up a little bit and enjoy riding around SF.

Looking forward to lurkin around here!

Thanks! It's been garaged its whole life, and ran great on the ride home!
As of right now I'm having trouble keeping it running for more than a few minutes at a time though. I'm trying to diagnose what the problem is and fix it before the weather turns to shit here.

I'd grab a manual and go through the full tuneup procedure. Also, check to be sure your battery is good/holds a charge. If it's been sitting a while chances are pretty good the battery is shot. Keep us updated!

Just got a fresh battery a few days ago. I'll keep you guys posted as soon as I figure it out!

If you find that it's related to your reg/rec, you'll want to check this guy out for a replacement. Quality part, and a nice update/improvement over the stock unit.

You know I was directed to the same site through the CB125 yahoo group. I may order one from these guys today, since it's a cheap part and probably worth replacing anyway.

There's actually no regulator on these bikes. There's only a rectifier. In this system the battery is what holds the voltage constant and performs the same function as a regulator. For ~$5 from your local RadioShack you can grab a modern one. It's called a full wave AC rectifier and should be rated for 50V.

In fact, the website coyote13 pointed to is a RadioShack rectifier with the right connector for the wiring harness attached, but for $20 more. As in it's a ripoff.

That is a super nice bike! If mine would've been even close to that condition I would never have chopped it!

Thanks! I almost wish it was in worse condition so I could chop it up without feeling guilty but I figure it's a great looking bike stock. By the way, yours is super gnarly. You don't see very many 125 bobs; I like it.
