oem throttle cable sufficient?

Will the oem throttle cable setup work well with clubman bars on a 74 cb550? Or will there still be alot of slack?

I ask cause the bike i have had ape hangers so there is like 8 extra inches of slack causing binding. I see nos cables on ebay for cheap, but im also interested in motion pro cables.

What size setup works the best (length) if i should go motion pro?

OEM will work, but will leave you with a rather big loop of cable sticking out the front of your bike. Not 100% on the CB550, but on my kz650 I had my cables shorted by 2.5" and they are perfect. You should be able to call Motion Pro, tell them what you've got and that you need them how ever much shorter than stock cables and get them just right that way (so I've read on other forums).
