Offsetting pod filters

Does any one have a link or maybe some ideas of how to offset emgo pod filters to clear the choke cable on a 1979 cb650? I cant seem to think of a cleaver way to do it.
I am half debating drilling a hole into the carbs and welding on a bolt to the choke rod so I can ditch the cable all together, but it is a weird bike and I think that is part of its character.

I would first dump the EMGO pods and pick up K+N's.

Believe me, they are on the list of things to go once I can afford to get velocity stacks. However I am doing a ground up rebuild on this basket case and want to get it at least rebuild and running before I spend the good money on those. The baskets were missing the airbox so this was the cheapest "get it running option".

Thank you for the link, I have read that thread numerous times and still for some reason cant figure out how he doubled it up.
