Oh Lord (CB500) - The Leaky Bitch (p. 31)

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/11/2012 Exhaust!!! (pg. 20)

That exhaust looks awesome. Mind me asking what that set you back? I didn't see anything on their website, so I'm guessing thats something you have to call up and order.

What would be the comparison of the MotoGP yoshi pipe to the Lossa replica? Exact Same?

Don't quote me on this but...

The pipe sold by Losa Engineering is made by MotoGP Werks, but the one on the website is not the most up-to-date one. I think he machines some of the parts on them now.

It ain't cheap, at $500 shipped. But I had to do it, because it's the look I wanted, and the physical layout I needed for the exhaust. In fact, its the 3rd most expensive thing I've purchased for the bike project; first expensive being the bike and second expensive being the Benji's tank and seat. Ouch!!!

To order, I called Chris at MotoGP Werks and he gave me the e-mail to PayPal him teh funds. I ordered on a Friday and got it a week later.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/11/2012 Exhaust!!! (pg. 20)

Bike looks great. Love the exhaust, too. Did you ever figure out your rear brake situation. I had the same problem with mine and I cut my rear arm in half and welded it back together. Worked great! I think PJ suggested to drill new lower hole in front bar. I think that would essentially do the same thing, or do bothfor a really short throw. I'll have to go back and look, but did you keep the spring on the rod? That is important to have.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/11/2012 Exhaust!!! (pg. 20)

While you're still in the build phase, might I recommend adding a second front rotor and an updated MC to handle it? If you ride aggressively you'll probably experience some hefty brake fade. The worst I had was on a set of downhill switchbacks, and it was quite an ass-puckering moment. And apart from reduced brake fade, the braking power is much improved.

It's an easy mod with some simple modification to the speedo drive plate on the hub.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/11/2012 Exhaust!!! (pg. 20)

I stopped by ranger's place the other day and we figured out the rear brakes. We ended up redrilling the hole on the pivot and it increased his throw. PJ is brilliant as always.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Brake plumbing question (pg. 21)

I had a good time hanging out with lingo, we got some work done on the brake lever. But now that the exhaust is on, and the brake lever is going to need some tweaking. The lever hits the exhaust before the brake engages. I'm thinking it will be minor to get it in shape. The shoes aren't that bad, but I will get new ones to see if that changes the geometry any.

QUESTION ABOUT BRAKE PLUMBING!!!
I'm going to be running stainless lines with thread on banjo fittings and a new hard line piece from the caliper to the lower brake line. Should I or should I not use the white teflon thread seal tape stuff plumbers use, on my threaded brake connections? I've got a small roll left over from when set up my air compressor.

Thanks guys!

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Brake plumbing qustion (pg. 21)

NO, the fittings will seal them selves

I was wondering if the lever was going to clear the pipe or not when I saw it on the bike

Use Copper rings on top and bottom of the banjo though !
These will seal, and the fluid will go through the line, through the banjo, en through the banjo bolt to the caliper.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of new washers for that. I really like the quality of the lines!

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Brake plumbing qustion (pg. 21)

Glad to see you're still plugging along and making a little progress. Ever get the brake pedal issue sorted out?

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Brake plumbing qustion (pg. 21)

I've used Teflon tape on bleeder threads for years.
It does two things
1/prevents threads seizing up
2/ stops leaks when bleeding brakes (fluid leaks around threads when bleeder is loose)

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Brake plumbing qustion (pg. 21)

I always use teflon tape on the bleeders. I use a vacuum bleeder, and if I don't use teflon air leaks in through the loosened threads.

Love the progress, What rear sets are you using?

Thanks! The rear sets are from Loaded Gun, the linkages are from Dime City, and the rest of the bits are Tarozzi purchased from Fast From the Past.

UGGGHHHHHH!!!! I lost a banjo bolt!!! WTF!?!?!? I just tore apart the garage and can't find it anywhere.

John, I should have a spare or two at the house. I will look tonight

I appreciate it, but I've got one on the way.

Re: Oh Lord (CB500) - 05/14/2012 Banjo bolt question (pg. 22)

I just got the replacement banjo bolt in the mail. Its short, but otherwise fits. Is this a problem?

only if it leaks or pulls threads . Take PJ's advice on torque though . " Tighten till it breaks and back off a quarter turn . "
Seriously , avoid the aluminium crush washers and use annealed copper washers . If there is any question then get them cherry red hot and drop them in water . Clean with scotch brite and dress them on a stone before installation .
