Well I have treated the Ace to a oil cooler, As I live in the UK I decided to go for the one from oo racing. Great delivery (next day). Once fitted I'm very pleased with it, But if your going to have one of these you have to bear in mind that the fitting kit supplied is for a CG type frame with a round down tube. With not to much trouble I straightened out the clamps and re-drilled to suit, Also fitted clamps both sides of frame to give cooler clearance off frame. Top mountings are secured to fairing mount. All in all a good item.

Looks good Tad - With the oil cooler, does it increase the oil capacity much, as the std engine holds approximately 0.9Ltrs oil, so I guess with the oil cooler installed, it will take 1 lt of oil? The engine has to work hard (Mine especially) so keeping it cooler and increasing the capacity can only help.
 
Thanks for response's, as for amount of oil. Before I started it up the oil was just above the window and when re checked after it is only just in window, so I'll let you know how much is needed when I get into town to buy some more (by car).
Looking at what you have done with your Ace's I'm quite sure your more than capable of mounting one.
The rocker box top and cooler come silver as standard.

PS I was pretty sure there was enough oil to allow for cooler as it's not that big.

Nice work Tad :)

A couple of things you might like to consider are:

1).. Replacing the hose clamps holding the oil lines to the banjo fittings with proper hydraulic compression fittings. The consequence of a $1 hose clamp failing could be catastrophic.

2).. Replacing the banjo fittings with elbows as banjo fittings typically restrict flow quite a bit. I dunno if this is an issue for the oil flow in the ACE engine but it can't hurt to be on the safe side.

Fixed both issues with earl's fittings; a bit expensive but problem free:

Thanks for advice, I'm having a look around our town suppliers to see what they've got in way of fastenings.
Besides, proper fittings do look so much better as well.

After having a look around the local hydraulic suppliers for good quality pipes and fittings, No luck.
So what I've done in the mean time is to replace the jubilee hose clips with decent crimp on clips free of charge from M/c dealer until I acquire desired ones. A lot safer, plus not so sharp on fingers.
This is the paint I used Mitch, nothing special. Just paint bought from hardware stores. It doesn't have to be heat proof. Make sure you've prepped the surface first.
I've used normal spray paint on most of my bikes for many years and the only place paint burns off is on the exhaust header, even heat proof will burn off there.

Update on oil cooler, rode bike hard on a fifty mile ride to a bike meeting yesterday tea time. Then rode a bit harder on fifty mile return journey, no leaks at all and cooler seams to do it's job. As for amount of oil needed with cooler on is about the same as std oil change due to feed pipes been at top of cooler. When I fitted it I topped rad up with oil before fitting banjo's (doesn't hold much) a couple of hundred cc's. If a thorough oil change is needed then I'll kick engine over a few times with sump plug removed. Then fill with std amount, run for a minute and top up as necessary.
