Oil question

As this is my first bike be prepared for all my stupid questions. I try to search the answers before posting to minimise reposts/looking like an idiot.
Anyway.. I have ridden around 1800km and just noticed my oil is practically empty. I park in the same spot in the garage with no leaks on the floor. My question is where has it all gone? Surely an oil change is every 5000km or so right? Does it need topping that often?

Cheers
Bry

The owner's manual recommends first oil change at 150km and every 1000k thereafter!

Oil is (relatively) cheap so it doesn't hurt to change it more often during run-in.

That said, oil loss in 1800km should be barely noticeable.

Crazy

Did you level the bike fully upright, not on the stand, when you checked the oil? But as Crazy said, oil is cheap, change it often!

This is my main concern.

Yeah it was just after I had taken it out for a little spin, saw it was basically empty through the little eye hole window thingy. Then sat it upright and checked the oil, very low.
Im thinking of booking it in to get the new jets installed, aswell as an overall look over everything by a professional just to make sure all my dodgy handywork wont get me killed ;)

What is this two wheeled wonder?
I dont understand?? The motorcycle is a Skyteam Ace 125, as per the DTT Skyteam Ace forum.

what oil do you use brand and viscosity?
New bike with Factory oil, havn't touched it yet.

Oh... hmm, I somehow read right passed the forum part to "oil question" sorry.

Understood, you have the break in oil still in and nearing the end of the first service interval. well it is very possible it took a while to seat the rings or it may even never been filled to capacity or filled and after ran settled lower. Secondly you could be pulling oil from the breather tube, but i'm not sure of the workings on your bike... I would get it changed or change it yourself at your earliest chance and keep a close eye on it for a while. My one and only non synthetic oil suggestion is Yamalube and full synthetic choices are Amsoil and Castrol for what it's worth 8)

This being an opinion from someone with zero Sky Team Ace knowledge it's not much to go on, but I will bet a wooden nickle someone who is experienced with these will be along shortly.

I think you should wait a bit after riding to check the oil. Give it some time to settle back down. Anyway, a check up and oil change can't hurt.

For what its worth, the second time I changed my oil was at the 1800 km mark, and I'm currently at ~3500km. Oil level has reduced almost a negligible amount, like it went from 7/8ths of the window Just refilled, to 6/8 of the window right now.

One thing you have to take into account is that looking at the window to gauge oil level is easily deceptive. by taking the measurement from the bottom right side of the case, the oil level WILL change Noticeably as soon as the bike leans from vertical, even something like 5-10º. If you have a friend that can sit on the bike to keep it totally upright, you can measure oil level easier. But I've noticed that when I check by myself oil level in the window, crouching and keeping the bike vertical by holding the right grip, every little movement changes oil level quite a bit. so take that into account.

Otherwise, no, something's not right with the bike. You can't lose that much oil without having a leaking gasket, a small puddle forming below your bike whenever you park for more than a couple days, or yourself smelling like fried fish from the exhaust.

Good luck with it, hope its nothing serious ;)
