Ok, give me a hand here... it starts and runs, tuning advice?

Ran like crap yesterday. I haven't gotten into it yet, but I'm sure it's ignition rather than carbs becaue of the backfiring. It has occurred to me that the wires connect to the coils w/ spade connectors, I'll bet that one of them wasn't tight enough. Hopefully that's it.
 
had that issue with spades. sometimes they need a bend to tighten, other times you've missed the grove and slid it into the rubber beside the grove instead.

If I discover that I did that I'll turn in my Shade Tree Mechanic card and decoder ring!
 
Don't say that. We all miss things at times. That's what shakedown runs are for. To find those minor issues and correct them. Happens to the best of us.

Ha! My Shade Tree Mechanic card is probably a cheap forgery anyway!
 
If I had a dollar for every shakedown mistake found, problem discovered or for every lost screw or bolt, I would be one rich mofo. The beauty of an online forum is you only have to take pics of the stuff that works. You can hide all the bad stuff.
