Been Around the Block
I dont even know where to start. I know something is wired incorrectly but I cant figure out what it is. The new left side controls I Purchased were supposed to have wires that matched up correctly but they didn't. I got in contact with the seller and he send me a list of what each wire is supposed to be, so I then matched up the wires according to a diagram I received on this forum. So now I have issues. Keep in mind that I have yet to install the tail light that has integrated signals,of course the cheap ebay purchase didn't list what the wires were for, so for now Im just trying to figure out the front signal lights.

I get no flashing from the signal lights. The signal running lights kick on with the headlight but only 2 of the 10ish LEDs. If I try to indicate in any direction, both lights turn off.

The horn isnt working either.

I spoke with an electrical wizard on this forum and he said I likely have mixed up wires but I wouldn't even know what wires to start chopping away at. I really need help. Electrical issues give me headaches and I would really like to be able to figure this out before I pay someone a few hundred to figure out a potentially simply issue.

Do you have a multi meter (or test light)?

I do have a test light. Im working on setting up the tail light for now. I think I got the brake light part figured out. I doubt ill get any blinky from the rear until i get it from the front.

OK... we might need to start at the beginning with this one.

Before we get into the details, I'm going to offer to wire up your controls and identify all the circuits for you. Ship it to me and send $30 paypal and I'll take care of it all. :p

That said, we need to take a look at your turn signals. How many wires coming off of the new ones? Two or three? Do you know if they're meant to be setup for running lights? Most aftermarket options do not have that feature.

Also, double check your wires. Some look a bit burned and you can't have any metal exposed.

Two wires coming off the turn signals, not sure if they are setup for running lights. Ill go check my wires. I attempted to use of the old incadecents on the rear signals just to see what would happen and I started to get some flash out of the LEDs.

ok they are all wired but I think still incorrectly. Wish I understood electrical systems better. Now the both rear signals stay constant when i try to indicate any direction, they will both come on. when I try to indicate left however the right front signal comes on as constant and the left does nothing. When I try to indicate right none of the front lights come on and of course the rears both come on as constant.

Sounds like some crossed wires.

Orange is left and light blue is right. Skip hooking up the orange/white and light blue/white for now.

Also, disconnect the turn signal indicator on your dashboard (it will also have an orange and a light blue wire, leave it unplugged).

Ok I have still yet to mess with the wires but I unplugged the dash light and already there is improvement. The rear signals with indicate the appropriate direction but no flash and zero activity from the front.

In order to keep the turn signals on both sides from flashing all at once (and if you want to keep the dashboard indicator light) you're going to need a diode setup.

We sell them on our site at http://www.sparckmoto.com/products

You can also order a couple of 1A diodes and make them yourself for a few dollars.

For the front turn signals, orange is left and light blue is right.

Ok well I disconnected the orange/white and lt blue/white. Same results. Appropriate direction from rear with no flash and zero activity from the front.

Front turn signals have the yellow wire connected to either orange or blue and then the black wire grounded?

Progress! I guess I had some bad grounds up front. Found decent temp grounds while I test and now both front and rear lights indicate the appropriate direction but still no flashing :/

Well shit. Now my starter is freaking out. I can kickstart her just fine but the starter is trying to turn and sounds stuck and the flasher relay is clicking.

You sure it's the flasher relay and not the solenoid?

Good call. The solenoid was clicking and moving my dangling relay. So what's this all about? Was fine minutes before I solved the signal issue

It's supposed to click when you press the starter button.

Is it clicking at some other time?

No only when I press the button but I was never able to hear it before because the bike started so quickly.

Not with the starter. Have to use the kickstart. The starter seems to barely have enough power to turn at all
