On buying cheap parts (I'm a twat)

RUN SCREAMING!!!
A couple months ago I got some real nice VM34s in Sonreirs group buy. Excellent value, I couldn't be happier with em. To mount these to my XS I chose to forgo the nice aluminum intakes that Lowbrow sells and just got some from XS650 direct. Now I knew damn well that they have a reputation for bad rubber but I didn't wanna fork out the extra $30 and wait for shit to clear customs.

Long story short I leave after work to ride down to Rochester NY to meet up with my best friend with plans of hitting up a meet in Ohio the following day. I stop about 30 mins from my house to give everything a once over check and lo and behold BOTH my intakes are ripped badly. I fire off a text to my buddy in NY telling him I wont make it, liberally apply electrical tape and hose clamps and make my way home.

If I had just bought quality parts the first time I would be riding out to Ohio with my best friend instead of sitting here typing this shit.

fuck

tsk tsk. It's rarely worth the savings cost. If you're going to buy a part, spend a little extra on something that will last you twice as long.

I know, I know, I usually do because I know better. These were really supposed to be a stopgap measure so my bike could be running NOW and the good bits would come later. Well they came too late.

yeesh, yeah, I know that feeling... It's definitely hard to wait out on the better part.

I bought intakes from my Mikuni dealer - fit like a charm and didn't have to order them.
