I'm sure there are those who remember seeing this bike last season at some of the swap meets etc. I snapped pics of it myself and drooled over it silently as I was scheming my way to my own XS650 project.

It's for sale - $4,000. Considering the work and parts and quality of the job, I'd say it's worth the price. You'd be hard pressed to replicate this for that much money.

For Sale: 1983 XS650 Café racer. This bike was a ground up restoration 1 year ago, with no expense spared. The motor has been bored to 763cc, Wiesco pistons, ported and polished, everything else was done, including crank and bearings, stock cam, electronic ignition and new 36mm Mikuni carbs, one tooth larger counter shaft sprocket & heavy duty chain. Rebuilt forks and seals, tapered steering head bearings, needle bearings in swing arm to replace old nylon ones, & new shocks. Exhaust is ceramic coated from Omar’s, the reset foot controls are nicest I’ve ever seen, also from Omar’s. New drilled disc brake from Mike’s XS. Paint on frame, tank, fender and seat is 1 yr old and spectacular quality.

This bike won best in class "Street Special" at the Paris Vintage Rally. It won the best "Best Special" at the Mosport Vintage Festival Concours D’delagance, and it won the "Entrants Choice" award at the Great Pine Ridge Fall Classic show. This bike is ridden, but never raced, handles great, fast and bullet proof. $4,000.00

I’m located 1 hour north east of Toronto, Canada. Ask for Hal 1-705 -324 -6897

That's a bargain considering all the work and parts he put into it. But no one ever gets all the money back from a project bike.

Yep - exhaust alone runs US$500 and they don't offer the ceramic coating like Hal has anymore. Those rear-sets are a good US$300 too I think. GS450 tank $100, drilled lightweight MikesXS rotor $130, Boyer ignition $260... it adds up quick and we haven't even gotten to the base bike, Wiseco piston kit, porting/polishing head, Mikuni carbs etc. etc. etc.

Nice bike - if I hadn't bought my BMW last fall I'd be seriously considering it but I'm enjoying putting my 650 together ;)

The bike is worth every penny he is asking ( I know what I have tied up in mine), in fact he is most likley loosing $$$'s. Unfortunatley he will be lucky to get that kind of money from anyone here in Canada . Maybe ebay will fetch more money but people want to pick up XS's on the cheap side of the scale.

Hope Hal is able to get what he needs. Sweet bike, I have seen it at Haugens from time to time

no question these bikes consume all sorts of dollars, especially with nice parts like Hal has on his - exhaust, rearsets, wiseco kit, boyer...

Shoot, I just spent another $175 on new pistons and rings for my bike!

It's on eBay now...
