oring chain or no for cb360

was hauling some ass(cb360 ass so around 80) and could here something. low and behold, it looks like my chain is pretty damn loose. so first question. get front sprocket and rear or is just front sufficient? two, o ring chain or now i know it seems i need 530 chain with about 95 or so links.
 
O or X ring chains can actually zap some HP out of the smaller bikes.


And if you're not going to replace both sprockets it's false economy to buy an expensive O ring chain (you'll wear out the chain in half the time with worn sprockets).


I'd just get a standard chain if I were you.
 
do a little reasearch, i found out that o-ring chains wont fit on the cb450's i donno about the 360? but it could pose a problem as o-ring chains weren't around when they were designed and made.
 
It's a clearance issue, the chain will possibly rub on the clutch actuator and wear it into a couple pieces. I have not tried it myself but that is the reasoning for the 450s not working. Normal roller chain is just fine so long as you lube it and adjust it. I shoot mine full of chain lube about every 5 fill ups (roughly 500 miles) and let it soak in then wipe the excess off. Then I adjust it. Makes for reason to be in the garage away from the wife on a Sunday. ;D
 
plain old fashioned roller chain is all you need, the 360 isn't powerful enough to justify the more expensive "stronger" chains, and since you lube your chain regularly anyways, you need not bother with "O or x" chains, you DO lube your chain regularly don't you?
nothing magical nor mysterious about chains, manufacturers started making them complicated to lure you into buying the "best"
 
Chain aside, replace both sprockets and the chain at the same time.
 
I got an o ring chain on my 76 360. ran it half the summer w the original sprockets just fine. then I swapped the 16 tooth sprocket for a new 18 tooth sprocket to lower 65 mph cruising rpms. and still everything is fine. still using the original rear sprocket. (the 18 tooth sprocket is larger diamater) and things come very VERY close to the gear shifter rod and the little formed sheet metal guard under the engine cover but I had to make no changes to get this all to work. I did have to machine the sprocket itself, it had shoulders on it that made it to wide for the keeper on the shaft. but its all good now. and my o ring chain seems to be fine.
I ride around almost every evening and weekend. NO really long trips.
