painting carbs what paint to use?

I read that people have used high temp engine paint, brake caliper paint, POR15, and just rattle can paint to do their carbs. I want to know what you paint guys think would be the best choice? I also don't want to powder them FYI.

I think you should try some different ones out, like, paint a bunch of swatches on aluminum, let them dry for a week and wipe them with gasoline... see which works... gas is really hard on most paints, so if you used a urethane based system, you'd probably be in good shape, but that's pretty pricey

no paint will hold up the the gas and the gas vapors. that is why i powdered mine... and used a DARK powder so it does not show the stains that light powder would.

I used the DupliColor high heat to paint mine, but won't know how well it holds up for a while. Still doing the build.

I used automotive urethane: etch prime, base prime, base coat, clear. It holds up alright, around some of the plugs it's peeled up a bit, but it's not tragic.

Of all the colored carbs I've seen, I only like Mysta's. His look good, but you should talk to him about what he had to do to get there.

Personally, I'd just skip it. But I'm lazy. Powder would work well too, but that seems like just as much work.

I think Eastman makes a whole line of paints that are fuel / brake fluid etc. resistant.

Yeah Eastwood makes this stuff specifically made for the OEM bronze look on carbs:

I was thinking about giving it a shot, I kinda dig the bronze color.

This is what DBC (sand blasted, etch primed i think, automotive urethane followed by clearcoat) looks like after a year or 2.

whats up guys.
been reading through the thread and thought i would post.
i have used the duplicolor high temp, gloss black. with high temp clear aswell.
looks good, i put alot of clear on it. i beleive that it should hold up, had it running abit but really won't know till
it is all together..
any way i do like the way mista2's carb has held up over 2 years, looks like it works.
i think that i would have done it like that, if i had read this thread before i did it.....
i also like the powder coating idea, looks awesome, but costly up here in canada.
any way good luck.
later.
