aren't you in Chicago?

The other 2 guys bailed on Wednesday. I held out for better weather until this morning but the forecast for my route was full of thunderstorms so I called it quits.

My dad and I were there for the weekend. I had my children gymnastic grad on Saturday morning so he got quite damp and chilly while he maned the booth. Better in the afternoon but still wet. Sunday was awesome.

The ride between Paris and Cambridge is really nice, great scenery and lots of curves. After 2 days of rain, riding home in the sunshine was fantastic.

There were lots of deals to be had as well.

Ok guys / gals - post up your deals!

I scored a new in the wrapper made-in-England front fender (mud guard for you Brits) that fits PERFECTLY on my 18" front wheel (XS650 project). It looks great. Just need to fab some mounts for it. $30 for that which I was pleased with.

Aside from that, only bought a vintage tin of Honda orange paint. Neat little red can with Japanese writing all over it - sitting on my desk in my home office. Traded a patch for it.

Was very tempted briefly by a very very nice SR500 for $2,100 - but it was too nice and too expensive for me.

Scored a pair of Mikuni Vm36's that came off an XS650 - looked barely used. They are even jetted Identically to the pair I have in my XS cafe :) Picked up a couple of oil coolers for $10 and a Harley turn signal that I'm using as a tail light on the current XS project.

I got:
10 original OEM NOS clutch friction plates for a 70-73 xs650 - $10
Some tools - $20
New Disk lock - $10
5 vintage Tin signs - $40
20 farring stays - $2
Skinny throttle rocker - $5
Misc. Lucas headlight stuff for my BSA - $60

Brand new front 19 inch Alloy Rim 2.5 thick, 60 holes !!.. FREE... YEAH... FREE!!...
What freakin hub would that work with???

Vintage leather handmade German tank bag, $50
Pair of DID 18" aluminum rims, $20
Pair of steel clip ons, $10
Pair of red Granturismo grips, $10
9 finned Honda tappet covers, $15
Pair of Ducati coils, $10
Bunch of wire harnesses, $2
Quick throttle, $20
Tsubaki full plate heavy duty CB350 camchain, $10

Nice on the VM36's - get a good deal?

Didn't find all I was looking for, do we ever ::)

Bought the following :

- Virtually new throttle housing with switch housing and cable (xs650) and all for $2.00.
- 71 xs650 tail light and mount (to be used on my 72 Yamaha dt250 enduro resto) $10.00
- Orginal chain gaurd for the 72 dt250 - $2.00
- set of straight handle bars for the DT250 - $5.00
- few other odds and ends that I cant recall, will have to inventory the garage :)

Spent most of the time hanging at a friends swap booth. Nice to actually meet some if the DTT guys in the flesh. Loco, Saucer, Tim, LoveHertz and a few more whos screen names escape me.
The best part is I came home with more money than I went with.

Good to see a bunch of u guys on Saturday! ;D Also good to hear you scored some good deals! 8)

I came home with a new set of chambers for my H2!! Not an actual purchase from the fairgrounds, but my buddy drove down from the Soo and brought them with him! Whoo hoo! Wait til you see (and hear!) 'em!

I sold a H2c tank to a friend from New York and made a deal with another friend from London for a '78 KH400 rolling chassis with title! (Project 2010??)

Now, lets put those parts to good use!!

$120 bucks which is probably one third what I paid for my other set from Sporting For Less - and no shipping charges. I couldn't pass them up.... I absolutely hate screwing around with fossilized CV carbs  - with these I know I can just bolt them on, grab a handful of throttle and go!

Nice deal! Do they have the starter circuit on them (choke)? My VM36's don't, but my VM34's (which I'm using) do. I got the 34's on eBay for $40, but then had to spend some money on new brass. Thankfully the new slides the eBay seller had put in the carbs were the right ones, so it was just jets etc. Still cost another $80 or so I think.

Lucky for you I didn't spot them first :) If you need a set of UNI air filters for the 36's let me know - I bought them a while back before I switched to the 34's so now I need to get smaller ones.

wow,
sounds that it was a good time. sure do wish that i went down.
maybe next year..
looks like good deals aswell, would have been nice to pick up some prts.
later.

They have the choke setup on them. Do the UNI filters fit in front of the stock battery box?

Not sure - lost the battery box long before I got the air filters on. Here are some pics of the filters on the bike with the VM36's.
