Photoshop color code?

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it on here or on google.

My friend told me he has heard of people pulling the photoshop color code from a picture and getting a paint code from it, but I can't find out how to do it. Does anyone know how? or if this is even true?

Most paints use the RAL system, if you have a RGB, CMYK, HEX, or whatever color code from photoshop you can use that to find the RAL color closest to it. There's a pretty limited amount of RAL colors so you usually won't find an exact match, but most of the time you'll be able to get pretty close.
