"In the age of information, ignorance is a choice
Guys, I need a little help and to collect information. I'm wanting to know what everyone is using for this... Not ceiling lights or mounted shop lights but ones you move around to get better light where your mounted lights won't.

I have had a dozen or so shop lights and they all seem to either break easily or just suck in general in their whole intended purpose of "lighting things up".

My problem with the good ones I've had that break are, not always, but mainly the bulbs. They're so damn expensive you can almost buy a whole new light for that kind of money.

I've tried some cordless led ones and they never seem bright enough or the battery life isn't long enough to even change the oil.

I'd rather not use the "good old standard" work light with the regular type lamp bulb in it mainly because I don't like how they have to hang on something and getting it to point or stay fixed on a point you want it to isn't the easiest... I'd like to have something that I can point where I want it to be and it will stay there, it won't dim and the bulbs last a long time or are inexpensive.

So what do you guys use or recommend? Let's see some pics or links if you have them too please ;)

(I just spent 2 days rebuilding the valve body on my tranny of a 98 Sonoma with a flashlight and that was a PITA! to say the least)

I have several give-away Harbor Freight magnetic or hang mount lights that are still working off of the original batteries. They won't light a huge area, but have been very useful in dim areas. They have 27 LEDs on the side for area lighting, and one in the end for use as a flashlight. http://www.harborfreight.com/27-led-portable-worklight-flashlight-67227.html I also have a 500 watt halogen that is great in a cold garage, but awful to work under in hot weather.

I use cheap work lights with clips -- but you've said you want something else. I sometimes use those cheesy headband mounted flashlights. Dorky, but they put light where you want it.

I bought a couple of these: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/555-11680 and mounted 4ft shop lights on them to light up my painting corner. You could mount any kind of light on the cross bar, it's a nicely made tripod for the money.
