POS of the month....

Caferacer.net. Jaguar, I believe it is? The thread where a bunch of pompous dicks talk about how wonderful they are while hating everyone elses bikes. Familiar?

Fucking douche.

Not exactly. "Jaguar" is probably over here too, but he's not Nortonguy AFAIK. At Cr.net the group that hang out there are racers and ex racers and wannabe racers and they play at being tough and so on. Jag just gets sucked into that and plays that role over there - though I hear he has changed for 2013.

This thread isn't really about Norton Guy or Jaguar or CR.net, it's about people sticking stickers on their bikes either to mess with people who know better or to mess with others who don't. Who knows what this particular bike decorator was thinking. Maybe Norton guy did it to wind the rest of us up.

Putting Norton stickers on an XS seems a little silly to me but there are days when I'd do the same thing just for the heck of it. Swastikas are out of bounds for obvious reasons and the Confederate Flag doesn't symbolize the same thing in the south as it does in the North. I should change that to it doesn't ALWAYS mean the same thing.

It's distasteful in that it's now political and racist and I don't need any of that or the ignorance and intolerance it is a sign of for many. There is too much divisiveness in politics and too much racism in politics too.

"cool" is subjective.

Cool is not subjective. If anyone could make up a definition for cool then it would not exist at all. Just as if everyone had a different definition for the word rock, then that word would have no meaning at all.

But anyone that Is cool knows that if someone acts out of ego or a need for attention, then they are not cool, and nothing they produce is either.

And that pretty much describes putting Norton or Vincent or Harley decals on the tank of a Yamaha doesn't it? Or maybe someone who pops into god knows how many internet forums each several times a day to cry wolf or tell everyone that the sky is falling....

Sorry. You said some intelligent things, thank you for that, but the Yamaha is something that is for sale in Ebay right here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-XS-650-Yamaha-Norton-Commando-Cafe-Racer-Bobber-Motorcycle-/221177440631?pt=US_motorcycles&hash=item337f33e977

It could soon be owned by some lucky DTT member!

30 bids obviously dont care haha...

Truth is if he kept the yamaha badge or just did some art work then it actually has a pretty "cool" look imo...but I have to admit the Norton thing ruins it for me...let it be cool for what it actually is.

Sorry, but cool is one of the most subjective concepts there is unless you're living inside the brain of the Fonze. If I can walk up to something and say "cool", and my buddy can look at the same thing and say "not cool", then obviously it's not a concrete definition. If I point to a rock and say "rock", my buddy won't point at the same rock and say "not a rock".

I do agree, though, that putting Norton badges on a Yamaha isn't cool. But that's just me.

I'm actually laughing out loud about how passionate some are getting over some random Joe putting decals on HIS bike. LOL

This is great stuff! Some of you are honestly pissed! Hahahaha

Who honestly cares? It's not like he stuck that sticker on your chest and ripped the hair out. Why react at all??

He did what he did because for whatever reason, whether it was to get a rise (which clearly works), or because he desperately would love to own a Norton but can't afford one, he just decided to do it. Who gives a shit?

I've done stuff to my bike that I'm sure people would consider ridiculous (hell, even the bike I CHOSE to work on is considered cheesy by many) but why would/should anyone care? Just ignore it.

He did what he did. So what.

If you ever ended up with the bike, change the shit "you" hate about it and be done with it.

LOL

I'm subscribing to this thread because I'm digging the discussion.

I think it's more that there's one guy here who is a tremendously successful fisherman. :)

Possible I suppose. Maybe he's just stumbled upon a hungry school?

Still......................trolling or not..........................why would anyone care?

Figure out the answer to that question, hombre, and you'll bankrupt Comcast

I think that some people are just itching for a fight. They come out swinging if they even remotely think they have been personally attacked.

"Norton...but that's a Yamaha.........Pistols at dawn!"

Flawed thinking. The only people that can see cool are those who are cool. Some have thought killing children and burying them under their porch was cool, that does not mean they or their actions are cool, it just means they are delusional. If you are not cool then you can think whatever you want, but outside your world it simply does not count.

Ok lets pretend this is true for second...who determines who is cool? At the very least that is completely subjective. Unless you are a total dick that thinks he is God's gift to the world. In which case you are the delusional one. And that is not cool.
