I have been thinking about this for a little while now while browsing the show n' shine section and just seeing photos in peoples build threads, and i think we need some sort of monthly photo contest besides the BOTM build contest. I am a member of a Mini Cooper forum called northamericanmotoring.com, and have loved the idea of their monthly photo contest, and I think it would be a cool thing to have here on DTT. Basically how it works is each month a few "themes" are voted on for the months contest. The themes can be a wide variety of things, like Black and White photos only, spring, fall, road trips, reflection, etc. Then once a theme is chosen members have that month to submit a photo incorporating the theme and there ride, which in the case of DTT would be your motorcycle or at least something to do with the motorcycle. The photo must include both items in order to be eligible for the contest. After people submit their pictures, then the forum can vote on them just as we do for BOTM. This would be great for everyone on the forum. It would people who enjoy photography as a hobby to get out and get some shots of their bikes, or any bikes, and be able to do so in a fun themed based manor. It also allows the other part of the forum who just enjoys to show their bike off to get out there and take some pics of their bikes in the same fun themed based manor. The quality of the camera the pic is taken with isn't whats being voted on, its the content of the picture itself. So even if you have a simple point-and-shoot camera, you can still get out there and take some good pictures. Here, http://www.northamericanmotoring.com/photocontest, is a list of the rules that are used on the Mini forum for the photo contest. We don't have to exactly follow by those rules, but it will give you a better understanding of what the contest consists of.
I would just like to hear your opinion on this and if you think it would be a good idea. I messaged Tim (one of the admins) about it and he thought it would be a good idea if there was enough support behind it. So all you photographers out there, and also all you people who love their bikes, speak your mind on this subject please.
