Post your carburetor pictures....!

Figured this would be kind of a cool idea for a post...I just cleaned my K & N Pods and as I took them off I realized how awesome carbs actually are, just the raw look and the fact that they abide by one of the major ideals of good design, form follows function. I saw the Petcock pictures and thought this would be along the same lines...I'll start it. Hopefully this is cool to put in da club, if not....oops.

I'll post a few more later on...keep it coming!

i love the CR carbs... such pretty pieces of machinery. ;D

Looks more like ' I have CR's worth more than bike and want to show them off to poor people'
I have a pair as well, off a real race bike. (XR650 flat tracker)
I'll post pics if you like?

Haha, I guess every forum needs a grumpy old man to keep things entertaining...what about those pics you said you were going to post?

Hey Deadbound, you should never play beer pong anywhere near open carburetors!

;D

damnit joe! you stole my idea for my carbs... i was going to do high gloss with polished bottom and top cups to match my motor. :D

Where is everyone getting there velocity stacks at? I ran across a sight that did custom one but that's about all I could find. Joe yours look brass too those carbs look sick. Is the powder coat holding up on them, I assume it's powder coat.

Mikuni smoothbore, 29mm, CB350 racebike (waiting some mods)
Part of a rack of four, probably off a Kawasaki 900/1000 racebike originally?
Mikunismoothbore.jpg

Pair of slightly modified Kei-Hin CR carbs, making mountings/linkage to fit to XS800
Kei-Hin2.jpg

Now, some very interesting stuff for people who don't know why 'smoothbore' carbs cost so much.
Pictures of different intakes.
CR (upside down) the slide is a thinwall tube so there is little disruption of airflow
Kei-Hininlet.jpg

Mikuni smoothbore, lots of things sticking into intake airflow. You can see the thin line where slide fits though.
Going to get some mods when (if?) I get time

Stock CB360 carb, airbox side

Mikuni VM 32 from engine side.
Not too visible but you can see where the throttle slide is bored, big hole causes disruption of airflow.
This one has emulsion tube I made so it works on fourstroke motors

I bought velocity stacks from Steel Dragon Performance. Search here or SOHC4. Very good quality and only $65.
