powder coating frame...how much?

On average how much would powder coating frame go for? I only have two businesses that powder coat local
One wants $475 to do any frame. The other wants $175, but ill have to call to be sure.

I've had just a frame blasted, masked, plugged for $75. Most I've paid is $150 and that was for a special type of powder.

And Joe would know - he's the guy doing it for people. If you're near him, get him to do it. He's bang on for pricing. I paid $200 and change a while back for my XS650, two swingarms and a bunch of brackets. That was all in gloss black at an industrial shop. They blasted, plugged and masked all the important bits but I did have to get out my dremel to clean up a couple spots like the swingarm pivot shaft in the frame.

200 bones in southern In. I got a two part candy red for frame and SA. I had to remove bearings and not all holes were plugged. Irritating, but what the hell. Two wheels costs $80, $60 for one. I think the prices you're seeing here are pretty typical, then. The $475 price is out and out robbery.

The $175 one, custom powder coat's price is actually $300 for blasting, masking, with two coats the color and then a clear coat for the metallic powder I want. Price may go up if they dont have it or can't mix it. $75 for primer powder under that. He told me I really dont need it though.

I get around $175-$200 for a single stage color or 50% higher for any 2 stage which includes any Candy, Metallic or anything that requires a clear coat or one is requested. I wouldn't even talk to the guy who wants $475, that's outrageous. The place doing it for $75.00 isn't making any money doing them or is seriously cutting out proper prep stages and to double the amount for a second coat is not fair.

What kind of "special type powder" was it?

I found four shops all together. One guys started or it's the price he quoted me was $475. Now when I asked him I didn't know what questions to ask so I don't know what that included... It is outrageous though. The other three were all basically the same price. $200 for you basic one coat, $75 for a primer, and 50% more for your two coats $300. No deals so far in Mississippi. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to find any, there's no competition. I could be wrong but I think the only way I'm going to get the frame the color I want is to powder coat it.

You can get ANY color you want made in powder or paint.

on thing to be sure you make sure is if your swing arm is included in the frame, we charge $50 - $75 additional for a swing arm, but our shop also offers needle bearing removal/install when customers drop off. we have even done neck races removal/install for customers. i usually recomend the customer does a dry fitment to find out what brackets can be removed and what ones will stay... here are some frames we have done

I found a guy in Gulfport that will do my frame and swing arm for $225 any color I want and $50 for the triples

Have you tried Sprayglo in Gulfport? Don't know TOO much about the quality, but I went to college with one of the guys who runs it and their auto paint looks really nice.

I had my RD frame done in MS when I still lived in Jackson by Combs Custom coating. He also Porcelain coated my Expansion chambers. Tu Combs is a really good guy.. Don't remember the price but it was maybe 250... I can call him tomorrow with a reference. if you like.
