I've been itching to build a cafe racer for some time and came across a Yamaha xs400 I picked up for next to nothing.
Some of the key components for this build is running a mono-shock for the rear and modern (inverted) forks for the front end. I'm thinking either one from a Aprilia RS125 or GSXR/CB. I'm still up on the air on that front.
Here is a sketch of what I envision the bike to look.
Buell Monoshock I picked up on eBay. Mount I got from David at voodoo vintage.
Bike stripped and started mocking up tank & wheels to get an idea.
Going with a custom Aluminum Tank & Tail built by Coopersmithing Co.
With the quality of your previous builds I definitely don't want to miss this. Are you going to modify the steel swing-arm or will you swap for a modern aluminum one?
Thank you... Nope never made a build thread but the bike is like 95% done just finished wiring last night Ill follow your Instagram right now and you check out my bike on my profile from beginning to end pretty much!
Thanks Timjen! I was planning to use the stock swing-arm and maybe add a under-brace like I did for my xs650.

Hey... great looking bike in the works! I jus spent a very, very rewarding 1/2 hour drooling all over my screen while scrolling through the Facebook page of Cooper Smithing. That guy is an effing genius.
