Project honda SS125A 1967 cafe racer fork swap

I'm starting to plan my ss125a cafe racer. The forks are rusty and I dont like the look of the boots. Also I dont like the headlight brackets and the wheel is rusty. I was wondering what would be a good front end swap. I would like to get a complete front end. I have found little info on fork length and bearing compatability. Any info would be appreciated.

There are heaps of threads here, with links to an "all balls" bearing website which gives a compatibility chart.

Man, those are cool -- pain in the ass to work on some of the wiring as it's up in that cavity, but cool nonetheless. I worked on one for a friend a couple of years back.

Easy answer (although I'm not 100% on it) is that CB160 front end would likely swap wither with the same triple tree or by swapping triple tree and forks. Question is how much of an upgrade that is...

This is the look that I am going for. Disc brakes would be nice also.

Have a 69 ss125 myself. Crossing my fingers for you on the carb as getting parts for these can be tricky. Will be curious to see what you do with the stock plastic air intake setup. There is a board on yahoo groups as well. Parts will inter change from one of the cl125 years.

yes the GS250T forks are the look I am going for. Now I just nee do make sure the stem length and bearings are compatible. Also I need to make sure the over all length is close.

I went on the http://www.allballsracing.com/ website and neither the ss125a or the gs250t were listed on there charts.
Anyone know any info on these bikes would be great.

The bearings on the GS250T (also the GS300 it grew into) are 48mm OD top and bottom, 25mm ID top, 27mm ID for the bottom.

Since you've already got the SS frame, simply measure the OD of the races pressed into the steering head. To tell you what bearing OD you need.

Unfortunately, what is harder to come up with is the bearing-to-bearing distance, but there are ways to work around those issues...

I think the Honda CM200T TwinStar forks are the same 31mm diameture. Then I could just slip them in my triples and use the existing brake setup. I just need to make sure they are close to the same length. this seems like the easy swap.

You would also need to verify that the fork tubes' center-to-center distance is the same for it to be a bolt-on swap.
