Yeah, the repair work is the result of my attempt to weld something beyond my ability. The collar is somewhere in the garage. I threw it when I saw what I did. Hint: There is something fundamentally wrong here.
Ding Ding Ding. I cut the brackets and rewelded the to drop the headlight about an inch. Welded the left bracket on upside down. The result is two identical bracket/fork covers. Some days it just doesn't pay to pick up a wrench.
Uber respect on the fact your doing all that to lower the headlight. I HATE "nice" bikes with a headlight that doesnt flow. The stock mounts are too high. Good man.
Thanks guys. I could make a massive thread on my drink inspired screw ups alone. Yeah, headlight alignment is something I'm kinda anal about. For me, it doesn't matter if it's bobbed, chopped or cafe'd, the headlight should fall in line with the tank (esp for a cafe). This is what I was going for. Course, you're only gonna see the right side. . Wondering though, whether I should try to drop it just a bit more? Course, it's gonna have clubmans that provide a break in the line between the tank and light.
Get the bars on an see where she lies...and you would need several editions of encyclopedias to cover your fuck ups...an the next time you wanna welds something critical, I'll put down your beer, and help more
Kinda a productive day. More so than yesterday anyway. My key came and it works ;D . Got smashed and broke the original. $6.50 for a NOS precut. Praise Allah for Ebay. Like to think this was final assembly. I know it wont be though, so I'll just consider it another mockup. Pleased with the headlight.
