Question about Acewell 2853 Construction + any dead units out there?

Greetings,

I'm trying to find out some details on how the shell of an Acewell 2835 is constructed. I'm assuming it is an aluminum housing. I'm also assuming the ribs are an external feature and not carried through to the inside surface? basically I want to shave the ribs down and would rather not end up cutting the shell off. I can buy one and drill a hole in the shell to find out, but if someone has a dead 2800 series Acewell that could be dissected/photographed that'd be even better.

Last question - by any chance is the bezel/display screwed onto the housing? I'm guessing it's a permanent joint but if I could pop it apart there that would be cool...

This image is blatantly stolen from Dime City Cycles website to give an idea of what I'm talking about:

Thanks for any help.
