Question about front end swap

I know people have posted stuff about this a million times. But....

I want to do a front end swap on my 73 CB 750. Mostly for the double disc. Im looking for a GSXR front end.. But what are your opinions?

Ive seen something about guys just adding a disc to the existing wheel.. What do you guys think? I want it to be nice. But Im seeing this front end swap could get expensive.. And if I get a front end obviously Im going to need a rear wheel to match which looks like it could be interesting?

If you're on a budget and you have limited fab / machining skills then putting an extra disc on your current front end is going to be the best option. Best go to SOHC forums and do a bit of searching on what is needed, or if you can find a GL1000 front end they bolt straight on (but only certain years I believe)

There's a link somewhere to the AllBalls website that has a steering bearing conversion calculator, so you can find which other front ends swap in and what bearings you need to do it.

And yes - if you go for a modern front end you will want a matching rear wheel to suit and this makes the exercise a lot more extensive / expensive.

We dont have any problems with fabbing. Have everything we need and my brother is a fabber and Im a body man/painter... We dont have a problem there, just wondering which is the best one.. The GL has been getting mentioned pretty often so maybe Ill go that route. We'll see I guess..

Im guessing you'd have to maybe run another swing arm or something like that if you use a GSXR front end and rear wheel. Thats why im on here. Trying to figure out what Im looking at as far as work and whats more cost effective. The GL front end is looking like the best choice, but the GSXR's look to the front end would be pretty cool..

Here's a later model swingarm that's pretty popular for early bikes:

There's actually a cheaper one listed but this listing had better pics. With this and your GSXR front end you'll have modern rubber, great brakes, with improved stability and handling. I'm sure it will look good too. Not a mod for everybody but I'm a believer in the late model conversions.
