Hey, I'm looking to replace the original coil on my 1975 XL250 because its rusted to a point where I can't stand leaving it on the bike. The original coil is a TEC AC6V, just like this one:
I'm not sure I understand your question - if you mean to replace your existing coil with a brand new one that's exactly the same....then yes it will work.
I'm a bit skeptical about it being a 6v / 12v coil....
But, anyway, if you read some of the reviews it seems it works OK on 6v systems but not on 12v so it's probably a 6v coil - which means it should work OK for your bike.

This. I don't think I've ever seen a "universal" coil that will work in 6 and 12 volt applications. The "universal" kits that used to be sold for old brit cars was a 6v coil that shipped with a resistor you put in series for 12 volt conversions.
