Wow, great choice of paint!!

+1, Brilliant color choice.

It will be a peoples choice favorite at any show, not to mention the other accolades it would bring. Get it signed up for the late shows in your area!!

EDIT: Nevermind! You're in San Diego! The shows never stop!

Thanks Dohc, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I'll be able to start it up this weekend.

Finn,

There is this old guy in National City that did it for me. I'll see if I can dig up my receipt and get his phone number for you. Or if I drive by his shop this week I'll pick up a card. He did an awesome job. I took him a picture of what I wanted and he was able to do it. Plus, if you don't have leather for your seat, there is a place in Chula Vista called Brother's Leather and will sell you more than enough leather to do your seat for about $20.

Sean,

Thanks! I'm pretty sure that you will see me out and about riding around San Diego. I doubt that you will see it at a show. I built it to ride hard ;D

Sorry for letting the record skip, but you really oughtta enter it in a couple shows before it gets road grime and scratches man! Get a couple trophies to pay for your hard work and vision!

Great paint choice, do you happen to know the colour name or code?

That is a great point! Since you put it that way, I'll probably end up going to a few shows.

Yes I do. The color is from a 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It's called Heritage Blue

Just the experience alone, being in the thick of the action and receiving compliments from strangers on things you thought noone would notice is worth it. I truly believe you will do very well there!

If you've never entered just ask questions. Almost all show promoters are very helpful. Also know that stuff always seems to change at the last minute, like where the bikes will be parked, who's where, whether you must remain in attendance, etc. I haven't put many of my own bikes in shows because i dont build show bikes, but I have been involved in a lot of bike and hot rod shows for cars and bikes that I have done work on.

Re: Bigsam302's 76 CB750F w/GSXR Forks: Project Helen - Finally, progress!!!

Time for another update. I ran into a problem with my reusable oil filter. After hooking up all of my hoses, I filled the oil tank with oil and started to cycle the motor with the starter. Oil started seeping out of the oil filter. The oil filter is actually a little smaller than the size that I need for Cycle X’s adapter and it wouldn’t seal. So I used the other oil filter that I had already had. Problem solved! Don was a big help and gave me the part number for an alternative.

After turning over the engine a little longer, the oil light went out, and the pressure was solid!

I installed my new Pingel fuel petcock. I am happy that I chose to modify my gas tank. Now I have different options if I decide to go another route in the future.

Here are some pictures of my velocity stacks installed.

Last night I took my first shot at wrapping my exhaust. It was a pain in the butt, but I am happy with the results. Today when I got home from work, I had to spray them with black silicone to seal them.

My exhaust are Mac 4 into 2 and the tips are Dime City Cycles shorty 12” reverse cone mufflers.

I hope to crank it in the next couple of days and take it to the DMV to get it registered.

Stay tuned for updates!

Can't wait so I can't imagine how you feel lol

Today is a great day! I got home and tinkered around with my bike for awhile. I finished programing my speedo, installed my exhaust and put about 2 gallons of gas in her. I pulled out the choke and she fired right up! I can’t believe that she actually runs! Since this was just my first run, I didn’t give it any throttle. I just let the break-in oil run through the engine and let the camshaft break in.

The idle is a little rough. I still have to go back in and do a few things to her. When I was running my electrical wiring, I made the headlight wire too short and it pull out of the socket when you turn the bars full lock. No big deal, I’ll solder in an extension tomorrow. I need to change the oil and filter, crank her up and go for a her break-in ride. Oh yeah, I need to fix my exhaust bracket on the right side. For some reason, it stripped and I am going to have to cut it off and put a new one on. Being in a hurry, I put it on a different way than my mock up and it messed up the bolt. So I can’t tighten it down all the way. I’ll fix that tomorrow as well.

I also need to work on the electronic ignition. I think that it is off; well I know that it is off. I don’t think that I installed it right for the 1-4 cycle. The 2-3 cycle is good. I just didn’t move the magnets far enough. Finally I need to adjust the idle. It idled pretty rough during the first few minutes and then it smoothed out a little.

Here are a few pictures and a quick video. I’ll take better pictures later!

Now that the hard part is over, it’s time to move on to the tuning!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. It feels good to finally have this thing finished - after so many setbacks!
