Hey guys this is my first time messing around with jets on a carb. I switched over to the Mikuni vm30s on my honda cb 350. My stock carbs just weren't cutting it anymore, always having problems with them. I'm having the typical problems with wrong size jets. I got it do idle great but will cut out randomly, and bogs down tremendously while under load.
Where's a good starting point to change out the jets this carb normally comes with. Also who's a reliable source to get them through?
I know this has been asked a lot but I have searched and searched and no one ever posts their solution.
There is a thread over on Hondatwins.net where members list their setups with Mikuni VM's, take a look to get an idea on what jet sizes and settings others have used. Should give you a good starting point.

This may help....http://carbjetkits.com/jet-kit-calculator-how.html
And to state the obvious...I have found that carb sync and proper air/fuel mixture screws are critical on these old Hondas. My 1975 cb550 had me thinking that my jet sizes were way off when I first bench-synced the carbs and started it up. But proper syncing and setting air/fuel brought everything in line.

I have tinkered so much with these mixture screws so much I can't believe that it could be them anymore. It idles great and has food response from the throttle but as soon as it's under load it bogs down, sputters, and wants to die.
