rearset options

Coast to Coast
I am pondering using the existing mounts off of my GS to fabricate rear sets. I would like to use the rearmost mount to attach a peg. If i do that I would have to go with option 1. option two would be to drill the mounting holes slightly back from the origional mount triangle and use or fabricate some sort of universal rearsets with linkages.

option 1:

Affix a peg mount to the rear bolt location (not the end hole passenger peg mount. This would move the peg up about two inches and back 6=7". From a crude mock stance minus my seat this is a very comfortable position. I would be able to use the shifter in a GP configuration from this point on the shifter side. On the brake side I would have to cut the brake level shorter, grind a small flat spot and affix a bolt on toe plate. I am worried if there would be sufficient leverage on the brake side?????

Need everones experianced thoughts good or bad.

OK I'm confused now. The standard mounts are not solid and have some sort of brace running on the other side. i would have to grind out the brace to be able to have room to mount the universal rearsets unless I use the rear peg location. I think that would be too far back.

Has anyone used these types of mounts without using the rear peg location? If so what was involved. If I remove them and use some sort of fabricated steel mount how do I space the swing arm bolts etc back out where it should be? I know spacers can be made but I was hoping that someone had a great quick fix idea.

Durgam K is fabbing me a set of his killer universals. I will post pics when they are installed. I figured this creating or altering the mounts part would be the easy part. Now i am more confused than ever.

Help- more pics- advise- welcomed and appreciated

how would i benifit from swapping the brackets from side to side? not being silly I just don't get it.

On some bikes you can swap the rider brackets from one side to the other and it moves the pegs back, giving a free start to DIY rearsets.
