removing stock air box or getting to filter (81 cb 750)

do you just pop it off each carb and pull the whole box out? or can you open it some how to get to the filter?

Should be able to open it without taking the air box off.

I thought so too, I unscrewed the little chrome cover and it's just the plastic box but i don't see how it opens
