Removing the cylinder

She's got the jimmy legs
Can anybody aim me in the right direction of how to remove this from the case. It is stuck. I'm afraid I'm going to break fins off.

use the power of leverage. you get the most leverage closest to TDC. with pressure on the wrench from the piston (use a small piece of wood to protect the dome) wack the side of the fins through a 2x4 with hammer. it will pop off. mine sat for 20 years and it came off 2nd wack.

if you put the tensioner housing back on tight you should be able to get good purchase underneath and pry up and crack the gasket i have done it this way
just be sure and use a piece of flat bar to protect the cases, spreading the load when prying

good lord ,using the crank and piston
that is an astoundingly stupid way to do that and and almost perfect way to fuck shit up

On each corner, there is a spot where there really aren't fins. I just whacked the shit out of each corner with a rubber mallet

really. please explain...
it could very easily greatly exceed the loads that are designed for all moving parts involved
for instance the crankshaft is simply a bunch of pieces pressed together
it could be twisted out of alignment
it could bend a rod or distort a piston pin bore, crack a piston etc... the possibilities for damage are a long list
and the hell of it is the damage could well be overlooked
believe me ,i am not making this up,it is a BAD BAD idea, live and learn

Thanks for the help guys. I managed to pop it off. It took minimal, very minimal upward force with a light tap of a mallet and it let go.
